Entry Way

Well.. A few weeks ago I did a post on some mirrored tables that i was IN LOVE with! I even added the console table to my “new home” list on Target, hoping that someone special would pick it up… ummm no luck IN FACT when i told my mom she gave me the “bitch please” look when I told her how much it was, my husband laughed and my dad just didn’t say anything lol. Now normally I would have bought it myself but ummm HELLO I am FABULOUSLY unemployed! So on to plan B! The thrift store… I’ve been itching to go for a few weeks, with the weather getting cold and all I need some fall gear! I’m going to cross my fingers and hit every thrift store that I frequent up with hopes of finding something remotely close to what I want… As most of you know, its VERY rare that you actually walk out the thrift store with what you went in there for. I have my eye on one particular entry table… that I ALWAYS see when I visit the store and at my favorite spot it’s usually about 30 dollars… Ive never picked it up because I didn’t have the need for it… How much do you want to bet that I’ll never find it again and if I do it’ll be ridiculously priced? Always happens to me smh. NEWAY! Here’s my inspiration! Let’s hope for the best shall we!

Racks on Racks on Racks

Sorry.. I couldn’t resist… sad to say that’s the only part of the song i know…  O yes… the post…. After googling… if that’s even a word which according to spell check it’s not… how to install closet shelves and rods I decided that the handy woman in my just aint ready to come out yet… I wait for NO man, which means while I’m busy being on my independent woman shit the entire diy closet building would have turned out to be a hot mess.. sorry im honest! Now for u ladies that know how to work a hammer and a miter saw.. GO HEAD GIRL.. but me… nawwwwww I’m good. I looked into the fancy Ikea closet units as well… and they’re just that… FANCY. I’m not paying 500 dollars for something I have to build from the ground up.. So I started thinking about alternative options…. now, if I can get a couple of strong men to install a few rods for me in the room then HEY NOW! If not Clothing racks work just as well :) O BTW… I’ll be taking before pics of the infamous “dressing room” tomorrow, when I visit the house for the first time to paint :) I managed to find a few pics of some very, very chic dressing rooms that have racks in the place of actual rods! U like? Opinions, Opinions!

Yesterday I shared with you dolls some exciting news!!!! Today I’m picking out wall paper for my dressing room! I decided that I want it to be VERY glamorous… I mean it is a DRESSING ROOM after all.. and when I think of anything GLAM Damask Immediately springs to mind.   I’m obsessed with black and gold! and I mean OBSSESSED! I fell in love with these two patterns! the black is soooo dramatic and sexy at the same time and the gold says “let the bitches eat cake” LOVE!!! now to choose! both are from Graham & Brown and both in my opinion are fairly expensive… I don’t know if I want to pay 75-85 dollars a roll for wall paper. What do you dolls think?

Dressing Room

Hey dolls… Some very exciting news… I got laid off my job.. booo… BITCHES… had to move in with my in laws because obviously being 1300s a month to rent a 2 bedroom apartment in addition to the other household bills was just too much for my man to swallow. And even though he’s the man and is expected to stand on the block… take care of his family by any means necessary I just can’t see him kill himself to do so. This is 2011 people… and I personally think that caring for a household is a partnership if you’re in it together… Okay enough of the lecture… Now back to the news.. anywho my grand ma ma had a house in Baltimore that she hasn’t lived in for like 5 years now… guess what? She gave it to us! YES dolls SHE GAAAAVVVEE us her house!  Naturally the creative juices are flowing… so here’s the “T” the house has 3 bedrooms… and from mommy’s told me (because I’ve never been to the house lol ) the closets are small…Well Kayden is 3 months old, he doesn’t NEED his own room yet… is what I said to mommy… so Kayden and Miycah will share and the 3rd bedroom which is smaller than the rest (den) will become the dressing room.  Now I’ve wanted an office since the beginning of time but a place to hold my shit so that its not spilling over everywhere is far more important than having an office that I won’t be in anyway considering that I do most of my best work in the bed… head out of the gutter ppl! I found some FABULOUS dressing rooms to share with you dolls to drool over as I ponder wth I want to go in this thang…

Getting There

I’m FINALLY in a happy place with our bedrooms progress!!!  If you’ve been a follower for quite some time then you know it’s been a journey…  If you live in an apartment like we do my theory is this… Just because it’s temporary doesn’t mean it has to look as such!!!!   As we prepare for the baby we also are getting our home in order… People will be coming and going more often then usual once he gets here and it HAS to look presentable! Soooooooo this dolls is our bedroom so far and I think it’s coming along pretty nicely The lamps were picked up at the GW, as were our night stands (painted white by yours truly) The duvet and pillows came from the clearance section at my local Target! Alright now Ghost Chair is from Ebay! The headboard is my first attempt at upholstering... ive been eyeing the white headboard from West Elm... we'll see...

 I’m in the process of painting my writing desk/vanity and finding a chic way to storage dirty laundry any ideas??? I also need to locate a larger dresser for the husbands items... the flat screen looks FABULOUS on our mid century peice (that you haven't seen yet... sorry lol) but doesn't fit all off his things sooo our oldest son will get it... more pics will be posted soon. Until then it’s getting there…

SWAP

As they say... all good things must come to an end and ikea's furniture durability is no different... mu husband broke one of the drawers on his rast dresser. Grrrrrr.... Luckily I had extra nightstands that I thrfited and painted this summer lying around the house.  Those plus my new lamps.... perfection.... Don't pay attention to the unmade bed.... Laundry Day... And now toooo tuft my DIY headboard... OOOO I haven't showed you guys the master update yet... Have I? O that's a post for another day :)

We're Pregnant!

Yup!!! U read it right! The Jones' are expecting... again. Although we aren't quite ready to purchase our first home just yet, it's time for us to move on to bigger and better things.  Hubby and I have been looking at a few houses in our area that are for rent and are hoping to move into one of them soon.  Our son is almost as excited as we are about the potential move for two reasons, most importantly, big brother won't have to share a room with a crying baby, and two more space to run around and tear shit up! Of course I'm thrilled to decorate! So what's on my mind right now? BABY NURSERIES of course! I stumbled across a FABULOUS site called Project Nursery and fell head over heels IN LOVE!!!! We don't know what the sex of the baby is just yet, wishful thinking IT'S A GIRL! but just our luck it'll be a boy. Either way as long as we have a healthy happy baby we'll be pleased.  I want to be prepared for whatever God decides to bless us with... There is nothing worse then having to get things situated after the baby has arrived, I plan to sleep!  So here are a few of my FAVORITE inspirational nursery photos!

I've been on my Mid Century kick for quite some time now! Obsessed would be the appropriate term to use. It's no secret that the best places to shop vintage are your local thrift stores and because I'm a frequent visitor I'm almost NEVER disappointed.  I don't know whether the residents of Prince George's County Maryland have caught on or not (Apparently Not) but the peices I've been finding lately would send any designer or lover of all things fabulous,vintage and authentic in a frenzy.  The things people just give away... SMH Anyway... I visited one of my many favorite thrift stores in search of some cute, vintage,skirts, blouses and blazers to wear this fall and thought it wouldn't hurt to take a stroll down the furniture ailse just to LOOK (I don't need ANYMORE furniture!) And OH MY GOD! A cork lamp!!!! for 14.14  -25% for the membership (and uh yeah, I'm a member!).I saw one in homegoods a few months ago and loved it... but I was not about to pay 50.00 for it...Of course the 50.00 homegoods lamp isn't comparible to my newest find.. How does the saying go? "They Just Don't Make Them Like They Used To." I've heard mixed reviews about the cork lamps but I'm IN LOVE!

My Rast is It!

Lord I looked at my last publish post which was June 5th and shook my head! Have I been that busy that I
ve neglected one of the things that I love to do most? Well I guess I have! So let me bring you up to speed because I've been a BAD BAD (in a good way of course) Girl.  A few weeks ago Tam Styles posted her daughters rast dresser updo and a few inspirational pics from others and I fell in love! It was already a given that we needed to get night stands, it's just way more convenient to put you shit on your side of bed instead of passing things back and forth in the middle of a great show or climbing overtop eachother (when you don't feel like it) to get phones, ipods or whatever. Off to Ikea I went! I purchased one at a time because I wanted to make sure I loved the way it turned out before I got ahead of myself.  One coat of Poly Stain (Walnut) Two coats of White Satin Paint and Two Coats of Poly to seal the deal. Turned into this! I finished my husbands today! and i decided to go with the silver knobs because the nd rames over our bed are silver! Now to find matching silver lamps!!!

That stain stinks to high heaven but it sure is FABULOUS!

Find Rug Check

I'm on this rug hard  I have been looking for THIS rug forever! and I mean forever and I was starting to think that it would never happen.. Why? Because I was not paying oooo i don't know A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR IT! aint that much love in the world! and I just happened to see it on overstock .com for 91.99 a much more comfortable price! I'm thinking thats the best price imma see.. so I'm going for it! I just hope that Overstock.com doesn't have to  see my bad side..I don't play with my money and I've heard mixed reviews! We'll See.

Progress!

I've been stingy with the pics of our almost completed Living Room! The pics are a little grainy because they were taken with my phone whenever my camera decides to show face I'll take better ones! Our living room is very Excentric! and I absolutely love it! It's grown on Mr. Jones too, which makes me very, very happy. He's not used to this chair not matching this rug and this lamp and what not, and neither was I... So I went with our care free personalities and dome inspiration from a few pics! and this is what I came up with! AND I LOVE IT!!!! A little bit of this and a little bit of that.. The thrift stores are freaking gold mines I tell you!!! So without further a do I present our ALMOST completed Living Room... Emphasis on the ALMOST.. Still have a ways ta go...

1. Finish up the art wall

2. Buy sofa... The futons temporary and it's served its purpose so now its gotta go!
3. Buy Rug/ DIY Chevron rug... Haven't decided yet
4. Pick up accent chairs from in laws and have reupholstered

5. Put together 3rd bookcase to put the rest of DVDS on.. Sad I know but we LOVE our Movies

6. Finish Painting Credenza...
7. Buy Bigger TV for Credenza.. The 42 in LCD isn't cutting it anymore

8. Purchase more books!
